The Seattle Seahawks are losing one of the key members of their defense to suspension.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Seahawks defensive lineman Jarran Reed has been suspended six games for a violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy. The suspension stems from an incident dating back to early 2017, and Reed has already lost an appeal.

Despite not being charged or arrested, the NFL has the power to levy suspensions like this when they see fit. That is what has happened here.
After shipping Frank Clark to Kansas City, the Seahawks were counting on Reed to be a key man on the defensive line. He had a breakout 2018, collecting 10.5 sacks as he started all 16 games. Instead of following that up in 2019, he’ll be on the bench, with the Seahawks forced to cope without him for nearly half the season.
