Tiger Woods has decided to take a step back and get treatment.
Woods was arrested and charged with driving under the influence following a car crash last Friday, and now he has decided to step away from golf temporarily.
Woods made the announcement with a social media post on Tuesday.
“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery,” Woods wrote.
“I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time,” Woods concluded.

Woods was arrested and charged with DUI after a rollover crash in Jupiter Island, Fla., on March 27. The pro golfer was also arrested for a DUI in Florida in 2017.
More details came out on Tuesday, stating that Woods was “sweating profusely” and that he showed “several signs of impairment” at the time of the arrest.
Woods was playing in the new indoor TGL golf league, and he had hopes of participating in The Masters in 2026, although that seems unlikely given the latest announcement.
