Bill Simmons ripped by WWE’s Sheamus after random jab

Bill Simmons ESPN

Bill Simmons was trying to make a clever joke using a WWE reference on Sunday night, but he picked the wrong wrestler to call out.

Although the Houston Texans came back to beat the Indianapolis Colts in a dramatic overtime win, Simmons felt NBC’s Cris Collinsworth was overselling the quality of the game. That’s when he decided to compare a lousy football game to a WWE match featuring Sheamus.

I love when Collinsworth pretends that a terrible game with a close score is a great game. It's like Michael Cole selling a Shamus match.

— Bill Simmons (@BillSimmons) October 17, 2016

Simmons was probably surprised to see that Sheamus heard about the dig. And the former heavyweight champion delivered an even better shot of his own.

Tru dat. Never a close match when I mangle some poor mutt… Still, Cole could help sell your flagging HBO show & p*ss-poor promo skills? https://t.co/mcQIaNkdQG

— Sheamus (@WWESheamus) October 17, 2016

Simmons should probably stick to defending his favorite boy toy, because he just lost that Twitter battle in a big way.
