Dana White: Conor McGregor-Floyd Mayweather fight ‘not close’

The talk about a potential Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. boxing fight seems to persist, but Dana White says such a match is “not close” to happening.

The UFC president spoke with a TMZ Sports cameraman, who asked about the progress of the fight talks. White did not offer much encouraging news.

“I think it’s progressing but nowhere near being done,” said White. “It’s not even close to being done.

“If we were close, I would tell you we were close. We’re not even close.”

TMZ’s reporter also asked White about the status of Ronda Rousey, who has not commented on her fighting future since losing in December.

“I don’t think so,” White said when asked if he thinks Rousey will return. “She hasn’t retired. She hasn’t told me she’s retiring. But I don’t think [she’s coming back].”

The response probably should not come as a surprise from White. Back in January, he made a similar comment when asked about Rousey.
