Tom Brady appears to take swipe at Julian Edelman over arrest

Julian Edelman got himself into trouble over the weekend after he allegedly had a bit too much to drink, but the star receiver’s favorite teammate knows a way to help him recover.

Tom Brady posted a series of promotions for his TB12 products on his Instagram story Tuesday, and one of them appeared to include a swipe at Edelman. Brady held up a bottle of TB12 electrolytes that are touted as an “all natural hydration” supplement, and he tagged Edelman in the photo and wrote “it sounds like you need some of these.”

Edelman was arrested in Beverly Hills on Saturday night after he allegedly jumped on the hood of somebody’s Mercedes. Police suspected he had been drinking, which makes sense. The 33-year-old was cited for misdemeanor vandalism and released.

Brady and Edelman are close friends, and they have been known to trade barbs on social media. Apparently there is not much that is off-limits with the heckling — even arrests.

Julian Edelman has had a rough past week or so, and we aren’t just talking about the New England Patriots’ disappointing playoff loss to the Tennessee Titans. Now, the star receiver can also add an arrest to his list of problems.

Edelman was arrested in Beverly Hills on Saturday night after he allegedly jumped on the hood of a person’s Mercedes, according to TMZ. Police were in the area working a robbery, and someone flagged them down to report what Edelman had done. The 33-year-old was cited for misdemeanor vandalism and released.

It’s unclear why Edelman decided to hop on the hood of someone’s car, but TMZ reports that police suspected he had been drinking. The Los Angeles County District Attorney will now decide whether or not to proceed with charges, though it seems like the type of case Edelman could easily settle by writing a check to the owner of the vehicle.

Edelman had one awesome play during New England’s loss to the Titans, but he also had a key dropped pass that killed a drive. He battled injuries throughout the season and is expected to have surgeries on both his shoulder and knee this offseason. He also has some legal trouble to sort out.

Video: Tom Brady yelling at Julian Edelman faked out the Titans defense so hard

Julian Edelman slot

Julian Edelman scored the New England Patriots’ first touchdown of their Wild Card Game on Saturday against the Tennessee Titans on an end-around, and he did so thanks to some help from Tom Brady.

The Patriots lined up in a single back set with Edelman lined up wide to the left. Brady yelled at him “Julian, get in the slot!”

Edelman then motioned into the slot.

Was Edelman really lost on the play? The complete opposite. The Patriots were only making Tennessee think that was the case, because they gave the ball to Edelman, who sprinted into the end zone for a 5-yard touchdown run.

The Patriots will use everything to their advantage, including little mind games like that one.

That sort of trick may only work once as long as opposing defenses prepare for it, but that was a great time to use it. And Edelman might have to amend this quote to include “and for tricks.”

Julian Edelman says he feels better than he has in weeks heading into Titans game

The health of Julian Edelman could be one of the main reasons the New England Patriots struggled on offense during the regular season, but the star receiver insists his health is trending in the right direction ahead of the biggest game of the year.

Edelman has been dealing with knee and shoulder injuries in recent weeks, and reports have claimed both are significant. However, he told WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show” on Thursday that his health will not be a factor on Saturday night against the Tennessee Titans. In fact, Edelman says he feels better now than he has in weeks.

“I feel good, and that’s that,” Edelman said, as transcribed by Darren Hartwell of NBC Sports Boston. “I feel better than I have in the last few weeks, and I feel good enough to go out and compete at a high level.”

Edelman did not miss a game during the regular season and caught an impressive 100 passes for 1,117 yards and six touchdowns. He had just 10 total catches over the final three games, however, and his injuries were almost certainly a factor.

Despite all that, Edelman has made it clear he is tired of talking about how banged up he is. He and Brady have continued to downplay their injuries all season, but it has been a while since both players looked 100 percent healthy. If that changes in the postseason, they have a chance to make a run. If not, they may not advance past Tennessee.

Julian Edelman reportedly has serious shoulder injury

Julian Edelman expressed frustration this week with reporters repeatedly asking him about the injuries he is battling, but the ailments sound like they are legitimate cause for concern.

Edelman has been receiving almost around-the-clock treatment for knee and shoulder injuries in recent weeks, and Michael Giardi of said Sunday that a source told him the shoulder issue is “worse than you can possibly imagine.”

Considering Edelman has been able to play and lift his arms, that seems like a bit of an exaggeration. However, it would not be a surprise if he needs surgery on both his shoulder and knee after the season.

Edelman’s knee injury is said to involve structural damage, and he was also evaluated for a concussion following a nasty collision during last week’s win over the Buffalo Bills.

With the Patriots’ offense having struggled for the majority of the season, the 33-year-old Edelman is arguably the team’s most important player outside of Tom Brady. It’s fair to wonder if he has been playing at anywhere close to 100 percent, and that will be something to monitor in the postseason.

Julian Edelman is tired of talking about his injuries

Julian Edelman has dealt with a variety of injuries as the New England Patriots get closer to embarking on another Super Bowl journey, but the star receiver does not seem overly concerned about them. In fact, he would appreciate if the media would stop talking about it.

Edelman has been limited in practice again this week with knee and shoulder injuries, and he was asked about those ailments during an interview on WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Morning Show” Friday. He said he is simply banged up like everyone else and doesn’t want to be asked about it anymore.

In addition to the knee and shoulder injuries, Edelman was also evaluated for a concussion after a nasty collision in Sunday’s win over the Buffalo Bills. Given that he is 33 and has suffered some serious injuries in the past, the questions are certainly reasonable.

Edelman caught five passes for 72 yards against the Bills, so he did not appear to be all that bothered. However, he is essentially the only consistent target Tom Brady has had to throw to this season, and his knee injury may be more significant than he has let on.

Julian Edelman evaluated for head injury after being called for pass interference on collision

Julian Edelman suffered a possible head injury during Saturday’s game between his New England Patriots and the Buffalo Bills.

Edelman was called for a pass interference on a rub route in the third quarter, wiping out what would have been a 33-yard touchdown by Benjamin Watson. As if getting called for the penalty to call back the TD weren’t enough, Edelman got nailed in a collision and appeared to suffer an injury.

Edelman first went into the medical tent on the sideline and was then seen going into the team’s locker room. NFL Network later shared that Edelman was being evaluated for a possible head injury.

Edelman entered the game with a significant knee injury and had four catches for 42 yards prior to exiting.

Julian Edelman reportedly getting healthier, expected to play vs. Bills

Julian Edelman has been dealing with some injuries in recent weeks that clearly limited him in last week’s win over the Cincinnati Bengals, but the star wide receiver is not expected to miss Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.

Edelman will likely play Sunday, and Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that he is “probably less banged up” this week than he was a week ago.

Edelman is one of the tougher players in the NFL, and it would take a very serious ailment to keep him out of a game as important as the one the New England Patriots have in Week 16. They could clinch the AFC East and move a step closer to a first-round bye in the playoffs with a win over Buffalo.

Some of the recent reports we have heard about Edelman’s knee injury do not sound encouraging, but the Patriots desperately need him on the field given their lack of talent on offense. Depending on how Sunday goes, they may decide to hold him out for precautionary reasons when they close out the regular season next week with a home game against the Miami Dolphins.

Julian Edelman reportedly dealing with significant knee injury

Julian Edelman is the one player on offense aside from Tom Brady that the New England Patriots can least afford to lose, and his health heading into the final two games of the regular season must be a major concern for the team.

Edelman was listed on the Patriots’ injury report last week with knee and shoulder injuries, but he played in Sunday’s 34-13 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. He did not appear to be anywhere near 100 percent, however, catching just two passes for nine yards and not running the crisp routes we are accustomed to seeing from him. According to Michael Giardi of NFL Network, that is because Edelman has some tendon damage in his left knee.

Giardi added that Edelman received treatment three times a day leading up to Sunday so he could play, and some Patriots players wondered during the game if it was a smart decision to play him.

Edelman has dealt with some significant injuries in the past, and he takes a beating over the middle of the field on a weekly basis. He has 92 catches for 1,019 yards on the season and has essentially been the lone bright spot in New England’s struggling offense.

The Patriots have an important game upcoming against the Buffalo Bills on Saturday night, and they could clinch the AFC East title with a win. They are still fighting for home field advantage in the playoffs, but they need to be smart with Edelman. Without him in the postseason, it would be difficult to envision the Patriots scoring enough points to win against quality opponents.

Julian Edelman releases hype video with clear message for Patriots doubters

The New England Patriots have seemingly been criticized more than any 10-2 team in NFL history, and you know they are going to take every bit of that criticism and try to use it to their advantage down the stretch. If you want proof of that, look no further than the hype video Julian Edelman released prior to Sunday’s game.

Edelman shared a compilation video on social media that showed several analysts talking about what a mess the Patriots’ offense is. The video also included Tom Brady’s famous quote from last year’s playoffs, when he said “everyone thinks we suck” after New England advanced to the AFC Championship Game.

The talk surrounding the 2019 Patriots is quite familiar, even if it is valid. Their offense has not been good, but their defense is elite and has carried them to 10 wins in 12 games. If Brady and his receivers can somehow get on the same page, New England would become even more dangerous.

Pundits and talk show hosts have prematurely written the Patriots off in the past, and Brady has made it no secret that he uses all that talk as motivation. Whether their analysis this year has been accurate or not, it’s no surprise the Pats are using the naysayers as fuel once again.
