Hulk Hogan contemplated suicide during tough times in 2007

Hulk HoganHulk Hogan revealed on “Oprah: Where are they now?” that he contemplated suicide as multiple parts of his life fell apart in 2007.

Among the problems in his life around that time included the car crash his son, Nick, was involved in, that resulted in serious injury to one of their friends; marital problems with his ex-wife; and the cancellation of his reality show “Hogan Knows Best.”

“Everything kind of went downhill really fast,” Hogan said in the interview. “There was an accident that my son was involved in and a good friend of ours was in the accident with my son. Just the marriage crashing and burning. … After the show [was cancelled] I kind of hit rock bottom.”

Hogan admitted he was drinking heavily around that time and contemplated suicide.

“It just all kept piling up. It all kept mounting and mounting. I didn’t know how to handle it. I always wondered how could someone possibly take their own life? I got to that point where I said, ‘you know what?’ Maybe this would be easy. Maybe this would be an easy way to fix things.'”

What got Hulk out of his funk? Surprisingly, it was the warmth he felt from some fans who told him how important he was to them. That helped Hulk realize the importance of being around a positive environment.

“I got sick and tired of being sick and tired. I got sick and tired of the hating, the negativity, the verbal abuse … I got sick and tired of being around it.”

Hogan says he realizes he had to go through all that to make him who he is today.

Hogan has been married to Jennifer McDaniel for nearly three years. They have been together for over five years. Interestingly, the sex tape featuring Hulk that became public last year was recorded in 2007, around the time he was having these problems.
