		<description>I think this will be known as the pressure era. I honestly believe if thier wasnt public out cry on who is on or was on roids then the voters would vote how they actually feel. The no brainer types will get in easily enough but ie: Ripken and Gwynn .  

I am no Bonds fan but I do wonder if this guy was a nice guy and not a dick would he be getting the benefit of the doubt from the fans and media</description>

		<description>That is an excellent solution to what will be a sticky problem in the years to come as more suspicious players become eligible and are put on the ballot.

However, the arguments put forth on behalf of Big Mac as a slugger do not persuade me that he should have made it on the first ballot, anyway.  Please keep in mind that Roger Maris, who broke Ruth's record, is still not a member of the Hall and will probably never get in.  Maris won back to back MVP's and was a superb, if underrated, right fielder.  If he couldn't make it at all, Big Mac, who I like, should not necessarily be a first ballot entrant like Ripken and Gwynne.</description>
