If you want to see history altered, look at all the called third strikes Maddux and Glavine got because their catchers set up off of the outside corner and the pitchers hit their gloves. Umpires, in the National League position, have no clue about the outside corner. I am confident that if you reviewed films of Johnson's games, you would find many bad calls that went against him and many others that were in his favor. Unfortunately for us, umpiring is not an exact science and many mistakes are made behind the plate and even on the bases. I believe that you are nitpicking here.
