David-Stern-Tells-Stan-Van-Gundy-Shut-UpStan Van Gundy is one of my favorite personalities in the NBA because he’s just so honest it’s hilarious. That was certainly the case on Wednesday night when he gave an in-game interview during the Pistons-Celtics game.

Van Gundy was asked about stopping Boston guard Isaiah Thomas, who scored 34 points in a 113-103 win, and was hilarious.

Stan Van was asked what changed the game to swing things in favor of the C’s.

“Isaiah Thomas. We can’t guard him at all,” he said.

“I don’t have any idea,” he said when asked how to corral Thomas. “We certainly haven’t found it yet.”

Van Gundy had a tremendous reaction in the fourth quarter to the Pistons’ defense against Thomas:

He also cursed later:

Thomas was asked after the game about his success, and even he was surprised.

“With the personnel we had on the floor, they were scared of kick-outs for 3s or whatever it might have been,” Thomas said via CSN New England. “I don’t know what they were messing up on. It’s like when I got in the teeth of the defense, like four or five times, nobody was around. That’s weird for me. I gotta give credit to my teammates because they spaced the floor very well.”
