Because that dude is out of the good graces of Frank Broyles and the entire state of Arkansas. He announced on Tuesday that he would be returning to Creighton a day after accepting the job to coach men’s basketball at Arkansas. One of my favorite parts of the story is that a private jet registered to The Razorback Foundation flew Altman into Fayetteville on Monday, but according to Mark Schlabach of ESPN.com, a plane owned by Creighton boosters had to pick him up on Tuesday to fly him back to Omaha. How great is that! So where does the whole “Masters” thing come in?

Broyles was expected to return from Augusta, Ga., where he was scheduled to attend the Masters (he is a member of Augusta National Golf Club). The Razorback Foundation’s jet was scheduled to pick up Broyles later Tuesday night.

Yeah, think those guys won’t see to it that Altman never picks his nose with a blade of Augusta National grass? Think again. That dude is probably banned for life.

As for Altman, how lame was his “family reasons” as an excuse for not taking the job? Just say given more thought, it’s best for me to return to Creighton, nothing personal (not that an apology like that wouldn’t keep Razorback fans from hating you).

Besides, it’s not like it’s the first time this has happened. Remember Rick Majerus at USC, Bobby Cremins and South Carolina, Gregg Marshall and College of Charleston? How bad does Arkansas look now? Firing Stan Heath only to NOT get Gillispie or Calipari, and have plan C slap you in the face!

The Razorbacks better get John Wooden to come out of retirement to save the last shade of face they have.
