UCLA Football Hires Sal Alosi, Dismisses Reeves Nelson’s Brother
UCLA announced a series of moves Monday highlighted by their hiring of former Jets strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi. Alosi is best known for organizing a coaches’ wall on the sidelines to block opposing gunners. In a game against the Dolphins two Decembers ago, he tripped Nolan Carroll and nearly injured him. Alosi and the Jets were fined for the move, and Alosi eventually resigned.
Alosi will serve as UCLA’s coordinator of strength and conditioning. He coached with Jim Mora in Atlanta in 2006.
Mora also announced Sunday that freshman tight end Raymond Nelson was kicked off the team. As LBS contributor Gene pointed out to us, Nelson is the younger brother of Reeves Nelson, who was thrown off the basketball team this season. I guess it runs in the family.
