Aaron Rodgers backing out of lost bet with Boyz II Men over Niners game
The Niners may have made it all the way to the NFC championship game last season, but very few people expected the performance we saw from them on Sunday. San Francisco came away with a 30-22 win over a Packers team that hadn’t lost a regular season game at Lambeau Field in almost two seasons. In the process, Aaron Rodgers lost a bet with R&B group Boyz II Men, who are supposedly his friends.
TMZ reported over the weekend that the R&B legends agreed to sing the National Anthem at Lambeau Field under the condition that Rodgers would wear an Alex Smith jersey for the remainder of the week if Green Bay lost. As you can see from the video above, Aaron says TMZ blew the whole thing out of proportion and that he won’t be wearing red and gold this week.
“There’s nothing to that,” he said. “That got blown way out of proportion.t was at best a joke between friends, and, unfortunately, the great reporting of TMZ blew another one.”
Personally, I side with TMZ on this one. Friendly bets typically are a joke, and the joke concludes with the loser living up to their end of the bargain and everyone having a laugh over it — hence the joke part. We already know Aaron is a big fan of Smith. Just wear the jersey, bro. It won’t kill you.
