Jets players rip Tim Tebow: ‘He’s terrible’

The anonymous New York Jets are at it again. Now that the team has all but eliminated itself from playoff contention, the Jets have reportedly decided to start anonymously ripping their teammates the same way they did last winter when Mark Sanchez struggled. This year, Tim Tebow is target.

“He’s terrible,” one Jets defensive started reportedly told the NY Daily News.

Manish Mehta of the NY Daily News wrote that more than a dozen players and other members of the Jets organization had negative things to say about Tebow. Several starters were asked if Tebow has what it takes to take over as New York’s starting quarterback, and here are some of their responses.

“Do I have to answer that question?” one veteran reportedly asked.

“Hell, no!” another starter said emphatically. “You got to keep defenses honest. You just can’t line up in the Wildcat all the time. That won’t work.”

One member of the organization was reminded of the success Tebow had with the Denver Broncos, but it’s pretty clear that person thought all those wins were a fluke.

“Now we’re depending on miracles?” he or she said. “You can’t play that way.”

Left guard Matt Slauson, who had the courage to reveal his identity, said that Sanchez is the team’s best option at quarterback and it’s “not even close.” Other Jets sources blamed the receiving corps for Sanchez’s struggles, saying that the current unit is “garbage” and that there are better ones at the college level.

If you somehow thought the 3-6 Jets still had a shot to make the playoffs after Rex Ryan cried on Sunday, perhaps these anonymous sources have changed your mind. A number of players ripped the organization for acquiring Tebow when the trade went down, and it appears the major distraction we were all waiting for is coming to a head now that Sanchez is struggling. We know the fans want to see Tebow, but does anyone in the Jets organization want him to become the starter?

“Nobody,” one player said.

It’s starting to look like things could get much worse in New York before they get any better.
