Audio: Broadcaster Ron Wolfley Calls LaRod Stephens-Howling the ‘Popcorn Fart’

For those of you who missed it, LaRod Stephens-Howling was responsible for the most exciting play of the day during the Cardinals’ overtime victory over Dallas last weekend. Howling caught a screen pass from Kevin Kolb and took it 52 yards down the sideline for the game-winning score. It was an exhilarating way to conclude a back-and-forth game, but the most intriguing aspect of it may not have been the run itself. The way Cardinals color commentator Ron Wolfley reviewed the play is what left a lasting impression if you ask me. Naturally, we had to hop on UrbanDictionary.com and find out if this nickname has any type of meaning we should be aware of.  Here are some of the definitions we found when doing a search for “popcorn fart.”

1. A faint non smelly fart, hardly worth the effort.
2. The rapid firing of several small farts, that when done correctly, sounds quite similar to a small mouse riding through the house on a motorcycle. Putt putt putt putt putt!
3. A fart that’s hot enough to air-cook popcorn.

What do you think? Any of those sound like Stephens-Howling? I guess No. 1 could be referring to how he is an under-the-radar type guy. No. 2 could be a testament to the way we plays the game. And No.3, well…
