Josh Reddick has the greatest walk-up song of all time (Video)

Shut it down. Shut the entire house down. Josh Reddick has officially won every competition when it comes to choosing the best at-bat walk-up music.

On Monday, the Oakland A’s outfielder changed his walk-up music to Wham!’s “Careless Whisper.” Now Careless Whisper isn’t your typical at-bat music. Usually you hear some heart-pumping, thumping beats or one of the current hit songs as at-bat music. But Reddick has decided to carve a unique path by picking an ’80s romance song filled with saxophone sounds more suited for a slow dance. And it has worked!

Since changing his song to “Careless Whisper” Monday, Reddick is 4-for-7 including a 2-run home run.

“It’s all the song,” Reddick joked Tuesday via the SF Chronicle. “It’s not my talent, it’s all the song.”

Fernando Abad OaklandThe song has been a real hit with his teammates and the fans. His teammates could be seen grooving and crooning to the song in the dugout and bullpen (take a look at reliever Fernando Abad at right).

“I love it, I told him that, ‘Dude, I am digging it,’ ” Brandon Moss said Tuesday. “And [Reddick] can pull it off, I don’t know why, it suits him very well. It’s a great song. It’s awesome, because it’s so unexpected, but also it’s something to laugh at and enjoy every single time.”

A fan section eevn got up and swayed side-to-side as the song played, and they booed Tuesday when the song wasn’t played for Reddick’s final at-bat.

This is seriously so awesome. Next time I’m looking to hit a home run in the bedroom, I’m throwing on “Careless Whisper” in honor of Josh.

Josh Reddick paid tribute to Ultimate Warrior during interview (Video)

Oakland A’s outfielder Josh Reddick is a big WWE fan, and like many other kids who grew up in the 1990s he was disappointed by the recent passing of The Ultimate Warrior. So when Reddick appeared on MLB Network’s “Intentional Talk” on Monday, he took the opportunity to pay tribute to one of the greatest wrestlers in WWE history.

Reddick came on camera sporting his Ultimate Warrior mask, shirt and armbands.

“The legend passed away a little over a week and a half ago after being inducted into the Hall of Fame, so I figured I’d switch my walk-up music and do a little tribute here for him,” Reddick said. “Everybody knows I’m a huge wrestling buff, so why not?”

Reddick also arrived at the interview by going into a full Warrior-style sprint from right field. It wasn’t quite as touching a tribute as the one we saw on RAW last week, but it was a great gesture. You know you were a legend when professional athletes from other sports worship you.

Josh Reddick robs Michael Morse of two home runs (Video)

Josh-Reddick-spidermanOakland A’s outfielder Josh Reddick had what will likely be his best defensive game of the year on Wednesday, and it didn’t even count. Reddick made not one but two incredible catches to rob San Francisco Giants outfielder Michael Morse of a pair of home runs.

In the second inning, Morse hit a fly ball to right that appeared destined to land over the 10-foot wall. The only way Reddick could have taken the homer away is if he went into Spiderman mode and scaled the wall. That’s exactly what he did, and the same exact thing happened again when Morse came to the plate in the fourth. The two joked about it on Twitter after the game.

Josh Reddick has a massive beard and wants people to stop telling him to shave it

Josh Reddick plays for the Oakland Athletics. Unlike the New York Yankees, the A’s do not have a strict policy when it comes to facial hair and grooming. Reddick has decided to take full advantage of that. He has begun the 2013 season with one of the grizzliest caveman beards you will ever see, and he has no intention of shaving it. So stop telling him to.

A certain Pittsburgh Steelers player may have had the best beard in sports, but now it’s gone. Hopefully Reddick will be able to raise money for charity if he ever decides to part ways with his mane, but it doesn’t sound like that time is coming in the near future.

Al Alburquerque kiss angers A’s

Tigers relief pitcher Al Alburquerque angered some Oakland A’s by kissing the baseball after inducing a ground out during Game 2 of the ALDS on Sunday.

Alburquerque relieved Phil Coke in the 9th and got A’s slugger Yoenis Cespedes to ground out with men on first and third to end the inning. After the ball was hit back to him, he took a few steps toward first before kissing the ball. He then gave an underhand toss to first baseman Prince Fielder for the inning-ending out.

Some A’s apparently viewed Alburquerque’s actions as disrespectful.

Josh Reddick pies Coco Crisp in the face while wearing Spiderman costume (Video)

The Oakland A’s have made a habit of coming away with walk-off wins this season. On Friday night, Jemile Weeks hit a lead-off triple and Coco Crisp followed with a sacrifice fly to give the A’s a 5-4 victory in the 15th inning. It was their second win in 15 innings this week, as they also needed six extra frames to beat the Rays on Monday night. It was Oakland’s league-leading 13th walk-off win of the season. They have won 32 games at home this season, meaning an astonishing 40% of those wins have come by way of the walk-off.

Since the A’s have become accustomed to dramatic endings, they have to look for ways to spice up the post-game celebration. The shaving cream pie-to-the-face isn’t exactly an innovative procedure. We’ve seen it done to Bryce Harper during a random interview and A.J. Burnett made a habit out of it when he was with the Yankees. Josh Reddick is the first one I’ve seen do it dressed in a Spiderman outfit. I guess that’s what 13 walk-off wins in less than a full season will do to a team.

Josh Reddick climbs fence for sick ‘Spiderman’ catch (Video)

A’s right fielder Josh Reddick has attracted plenty of attention with his powerful bat this season, but he’s also brought the leather on plenty of occasions. In the bottom of the 2nd of Oakland’s 16-0 shellacking of Toronto on Wednesday, Reddick climbed the fence in right field and hung off it to make a “Spiderman” catch that robbed Travis Snider of an extra-base hit. Reddick didn’t actually need to hang off the fence to make the catch, but he got back early enough in case the ball was headed over the wall. Reddick had an RBI double and has bashed 21 home runs this season.

As awesome as the Spiderman catch was, it may not have been Reddick’s best of the season. He also had this awesome diving grab earlier this month to rob Ichiro:
