Billy Beane: A’s exploring contract extension for Josh Reddick
Oakland A’s outfielder Josh Reddick is one of the few veterans on the team that has survived The Great Billy Beane Purge of the last couple of seasons. And it looks like it’s going to stay that way for a while longer.
On Thursday, Beane said that the A’s are currently exploring a long-term contract extension for Reddick, per Jim Bowden of ESPN.

Reddick, 29, is about to enter the final year of his contract with the team. He has been with Oakland since 2011 and batted .272/.333/.449 with 20 home runs, 77 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases in 2015.
Proving to be a very well-rounded hitter beyond just his raw power, Reddick has emerged as a significant asset for the A’s over the years as their everyday right fielder. He’s also a plus defender who won a Gold Glove in 2012 and has been known to make plays like these every now and then. As such, it’s great that Oakland is looking to make a continued commitment to a guy who is a legitimate cornerstone for their franchise.
