Braves GM: We have ‘no intention’ of trading Julio Teheran
If you thought you were gonna steal away a Colombian righty at the deadline this year, the Atlanta Braves will unfortunately be Teheran up your heart.
Brave general manager John Coppolella said Tuesday that the team has “no intention” of trading away Julio Teheran and that they “fully expect him to be a Brave on August 2nd,” per Kevin McAlpin of the Braves Radio Network.

The 25-year-old has been Atlanta’s best pitcher this season with a 2.79 ERA, a 0.95 WHIP, and 112 strikeouts in 19 starts. Teheran also represented the Braves in this year’s All-Star Game.
There had been some indication earlier this month that Teheran might be available for the right price, especially considering the rebuilding state of the team. But Teheran’s best years are still very much in front of him, and it’s great to see the Braves taking the long-term perspective rather than pulling the trigger on a short-sighted trade.
