The Marlins had been seemingly trending toward this choice for some time. The 44-year-old also received a look from the Chicago White Sox, and has been viewed as a potential manager for some time now. The San Francisco Giants even gave him some consideration back in 2019, when McCullough was still just a field coordinator in the Dodger organization.
McCullough has a tough job ahead of him, as the Marlins cut costs last year and wound up losing 100 games. Things don’t necessarily look better for them in 2025, suggesting a pretty significant rebuild is ahead of them.
