Cubs officially shut down Brandon Morrow for season
The Chicago Cubs’ two-year deal with Brandon Morrow will end with him providing a half-season of pitching.
Cubs president Theo Epstein confirmed that Morrow will be shut down for the season after failing to come back from elbow surgery. Epstein also took the blame for the fact that the two-year, $21 million deal that Morrow signed didn’t work out as envisioned.

Epstein said it was a “calculated risk” in signing Morrow: “That’s on me,” Epstein stated…..Was good when healthy but only lasted half season.

Morrow, who has long had issues with injuries, underwent what was supposed to be a straightforward elbow cleanup during the offseason. Morrow was originally supposed to return in May, but his rehab was slowed down in April, and he simply wasn’t able to come back.
