Gerrit Cole sounds like he is already leaving Astros in free agency
Gerrit Cole sounds like he is as good as gone from the Houston Astros.
Cole will be a free agent this offseason, and not even an hour after the Astros lost Game 7 of the World Series, he had already declared himself a free agent. He told a reporter he was “not an employee of the team.”
Gerrit Cole, an impending free agent, was resistant to talk after Game 7.
“I’m not an employee of the team,” he said to an Astros spokesperson. “I guess as a representative of myself…” Then he spoke.

Not only did Cole already distance himself from the Astros, but he was also wearing a hat after the game for his agent Scott Boras’ company.

Cole had an incredible season for Houston and will be the top pitcher on the market.
The former No. 1 pick in the draft went 20-5 with a 2.50 ERA and 326 strikeouts during the regular season. He was even better in the postseason, going 4-1 with a 1.72 ERA. Some of his Astros teammates have an idea of where he might want to go.
He said it, you wear it! Astros fans: Carlos Correa called his team Apex Predators. Now it’s time for you to wear the Apex Predators shirt. Purchase it below:
