Jery Remy shares uplifting message after latest cancer diagnosis

Jerry Remy

Longtime Boston Red Sox broadcaster Jery Remy was recently diagnosed with cancer again, and he is facing the challenge the same way he has all of the previous times he was forced to fight the disease.

On Tuesday, NESN announced that Remy will be stepping away from broadcasts indefinitely to undergo treatment for another bout of cancer. Remy took to Twitter on Wednesday to share an optimistic outlook on his latest obstacle.

Remy, 65, was first diagnosed with lung cancer in 2008. He has had multiple recurrences since, and he has openly stated that he believes the disease is the result of many years of smoking. Remy had a recurrence of cancer last June and had to undergo surgery and chemotherapy treatments, and he missed most of the second half of the season before returning for a handful of games in September.

Remy has been calling games for the Red Sox on NESN since 1988. He also spent seven seasons as a player with Boston.
