Kenley Jansen blows lead in 8th inning for second straight game
Dave Roberts’ decision to put Kenley Jansen into a World Series game in the 8th inning backfired for the second straight day.
Jansen entered Game 4 in the 8th on Saturday and got Andrew Benintendi out. He then allowed a solo home run to Steve Pearce that tied Game 4 at four.

This was nearly a repeat of what happened on Friday night in Game 3.
Jansen entered in the 8th inning of a 1-0 game. He got two outs before allowing a solo home run to Jackie Bradley Jr to tie the game. Matters weren’t finally decided in Game 3 until the Dodgers pulled it out 3-2 in the 18th inning.
Jansen often closes out games in the 9th inning for the Dodgers, but Roberts sometimes calls on him for longer saves or to enter earlier than that. The moves did not work out in Games 3 and 4.
