Matt Harvey’s spot in Mets’ rotation in jeopardy
Matt Harvey’s spot in the New York Mets’ rotation appears to be in jeopardy.
Harvey allowed six runs on eight hits over six innings in a 12-4 loss to the Atlanta Braves. Though he went five innings of scoreless ball in his season debut, Harvey gave up four runs in each of his next two starts. Things then got worse on Thursday, with Harvey’s ERA ballooning to 6.00.
There was speculation prior to Harvey’s outing on Thursday that he could be the odd man out in the rotation, and that was before his poor performance. After the game, Mets manager Mickey Callaway said he had not decided if Harvey would make his next start.

Facing questions about whether he would move to the bullpen, Harvey insisted he was a starting pitcher.
Jason Vargas is set to return to the rotation soon, which would push one of the Mets’ pitchers out of the rotation. Steven Matz or Zack Wheeler would be the other candidates to be bumped from the rotation.
