A pair of Philadelphia Phillies fans went viral on Saturday for the T-shirts they wore to the game between the Philadelphia Phillies and Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pa.
The two fans, one of them wearing a Phillies hat, were both wearing shirts displaying NBC Sports Philadelphia’s famous “P00P” scorebug that had previously been used during Phillies-Pirates games. The scorebug has since been retired, but the two fans were determined to not let it die.
Phillies announcer Tom McCarthy even made reference to the shirts, drawing attention to the fact that the score of the game was 1-1 at the time.
“Well, we don’t have ‘poop,’ but we have ‘piip.’ The long middle P-I-I-P,” McCarthy cracked.

The much-loved graphic went viral during virtually every Phillies-Pirates game as long as NBC Sports Philadelphia maintained that scorebug. The network’s graphics overhaul for this season eliminated it, but there was one final farewell to the joke during spring training.
For now, fans will have to look to other sports for sophomoric scorebug jokes. Credit to this couple for keeping the original alive.
