Red Sox provide updates on Chris Sale, David Price
The Boston Red Sox are dealing with some key injuries as they continue to roll in the final month of the regular season, but they have received positive news on two of their most important players.
Chris Sale, who has been on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation since Aug. 18, is expected to return to Boston’s starting rotation as soon as next week.
Things going very well for Chris Sale. Red Sox expect him to return as "opener" on homestand, maybe as soon as Astros series.

Sale has been placed on the disabled list twice this season with the same shoulder issue, so it’s obviously a positive sign that he is returning with several weeks to spare before the playoffs.
David Price, who was hit in the left wrist with a scary line drive, will also be returning sooner rather than later.
Red Sox also expect David Price to be ready to return for Houston or else by next visitor, Blue Jays.

If the Red Sox want to make a deep postseason run, they’ll need both Sale and Price to be at their best. Price has a horrendous record in the playoffs, and Sale posted an 8.38 ERA in his two starts against the eventual World Series champion Houston Astros last postseason. Having both left-handers healthy and at the top of their game will be key for Boston.
