Out of all of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ big bats, it was Tommy Edman who somehow became the NLCS MVP this October. And the honor was earned and very well deserved.
The Dodgers beat the New York Mets 10-5 in Game 6 of the NLCS at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif., on Sunday to win the series 4-2 and advance to the World Series.
Edman got the Dodgers off to a great start by driving in the team’s first four runs. He delivered a 2-run double in the first inning to give his team a 2-1 lead. Then in the bottom of the third inning, Edman slugged a 2-run home run to increase the lead to 4-1.
The Dodgers never trailed after Edman’s 2-run double in the first.
The 29-year-old shortstop was scorching hot in the series. He batted .407 (11-for-27) with 5 runs scored, 11 RBIs, two doubles and a home run against the Mets. That was good enough to earn Edman NLCS MVP.

That’s not at all bad when you consider where Edman came from.
The Dodgers acquired Edman in a three-way trade with the White Sox and Cardinals on July 29 that also brought the NL West squad Michael Kopech. Edman was injured at the time. The former Gold Glover had batted .237 with a .711 OPS in 37 games with the Dodgers during the regular season. But he is batting .341 this postseason and has helped the Dodgers reach the World Series. And if it weren’t for an injury to Miguel Rojas, Edman wouldn’t have been playing as consistently as he is now.
Next it will be the Dodgers and New York Yankees meeting in the World Series for the first time since 1981.
