All good things come to an end, and that was the case for Baltimore Orioles slugger Tyler O’Neill on Opening Day.
O’Neill entered Thursday with home runs in six straight Opening Day games, which is an MLB record. Yogi Berra, Gary Carter and Todd Hundley each had four, so O’Neill shattered those streaks with six such games.
Unfortunately, O’Neill went just 1-for-2 with a single and zero home runs in the Orioles’ 2-1 win over the Minnesota Twins on Thursday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Md.

O’Neill began his MLB career with the St. Louis Cardinals, playing six seasons there before being traded to the Boston Red Sox prior to the 2024 season.
O’Neill’s streak began in 2020, and it continued even in the American League with the Red Sox and then with the Orioles in his Baltimore debut in 2025 against the Toronto Blue Jays.
O’Neill played just 54 games last season due to injuries, hitting just .199 with nine home runs in a disappointing season.
As far as Baltimore goes, the Orioles enter the 2026 season with high hopes of making a playoff run. Pete Alonso signed a massive deal in free agency, and veteran pitcher Chris Bassitt joined via free agency as well after spending 2025 with the Toronto Blue Jays.
