Angel Reese was not at all happy with Aaliyah Edwards during Thursday’s game.
Reese and the Atlanta Dream faced off Thursday against Edwards and the Connecticut Sun. In the second quarter at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., Reese received a pass down low and went up for a close-range layup against two defenders.
One of those defenders was the Sun forward Edwards. As Reese went up for the layup after momentarily being stripped, she collided with Edwards.
In the heap, Reese’s head hit Edwards’ chin, and Edwards’ raised arms came down around Reese’s neck. Reese was immediately incensed over the play and yelled in the direction of Edwards, who was down on the ground in pain.
Reese was then seen on the Dream sideline yelling out of Edwards that, “She grabbed my neck!” Here is the video of the full sequence.

Edwards was initially given a common foul on the play, but it was upgraded to a flagrant-1 foul upon review. Reese would miss both flagrant-foul free throws and finished the game with eight points and 15 rebounds on 3/13 shooting (though the Dream still beat the Sun in a 104-69 laugher).
Atlanta is very much in playoff position right now with the win improving them to 21-12 on the season, which is tied for first in the Eastern Conference and tied for fourth in the WNBA overall. But drama continues to follow the three-time All-Star Reese, who also had a heated incident with Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers during another recent game.
