Anthony Edwards was not afraid to poke the Slovenian bear Saturday during the Minnesota Timberwolves’ playoff opener against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Timberwolves led the Lakers by as many as 27 points in Game 1 of their first-round series at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Calif. But the home team battled back in the second half, trimming the lead to 96-84 just a minute into the fourth quarter.
With the Lakers threatening a comeback, Edwards checked back into the ballgame and immediately drained a jumper. A few plays later, Edwards had Lakers star Luka Doncic in isolation. Edwards danced on Doncic, passed out to a teammate, got it back, then drained a cold three-pointer in Luka’s face.

Edwards stared Doncic down as he walked back on defense. The All-Star known as “Ant-Man” began hitting Doncic with imaginary spider webs as if he were Peter Parker. The Lakers star could only look on.

Edwards’ shot came after the Timberwolves star had a momentary injury scare in the second half. He shrugged off any concerns once he reentered the court.
Doncic is used to being the one putting opponents in their place during the postseason. But the Lakers star was on the receiving end Saturday as Edwards and the Timberwolves ran away with a 117-95 win in Game 1.
Doncic scored a game-high 37 points on 12/22 shooting from the floor. But he didn’t have much help as neither LeBron James (19 points) nor Austin Reaves (16 points) were able to breach the 20-point mark. Edwards finished with 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists.
