Celtics player goes viral for schooling kid 1-on-1 at the park
Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard on Sunday gave a young fan an afternoon to remember.
Pritchard’s wife Emma posted a video on Instagram that quickly went viral on X. In the clip, the Celtics guard took on a kid half his size in a game of 1-on-1.
Payton was seen in an all-white outfit backing down the youngster, who had the biggest smile on his face. Despite the contest clearly being friendly, Pritchard still gave his adolescent opponent the business by backing him down and even using his off arm to create some space for a fadeaway. Once Pritchard hit the shot, the kid was heard saying, “No way!”
“We took our dog to the park and I turn around and find him here,” Emma captioned the Instagram post.

Payton likely spotted the kid shooting hoops by himself and decided to give him a lasting memory. It’s not every day that a random NBA champion just walks up to you and challenges you to a game, especially one who was draining halfcourt shots with ease in the NBA Finals.
Pritchard is off to a solid start to the 2024-25 season. Through three games with the Celtics, the Oregon alum has averaged 12.3 points and 3.7 three-pointers made per game.
