Frontrunner emerging to become Caitlin Clark’s new head coach on Indiana Fever
Caitlin Clark may be getting her new Phil Jackson soon.
The Connecticut Sun announced on Monday that they have officially parted with head coach Stephanie White. The two sides are going their separate ways after White spent the last two seasons as coach of the Sun, even winning WNBA Coach of the Year in 2023.
Thank you, Coach.

White’s departure from the Sun had been expected, and Annie Costabile of the Chicago Sun-Times reported this weekend that the Indiana Fever are seen as the frontrunner to land White as their next head coach. The Fever are looking for a new head coach after firing Christie Sides earlier this week.
The 47-year-old White also sparked Fever speculation in a recent interview with ESPN by stating that coaching in Connecticut was difficult for her since she was far away from her family, who live in West Lebanon, Ind.
White told ESPN: “This has not been easy. But certainly, at the end of the day, it's tough for me being away from my family. So from a professional standpoint and a personal standpoint, I feel like it's the best decision."

White already has a very rich history with the Fever. She played for the team from 2000-04 and then later became both an assistant coach for them (from 2011-14) and their head coach (from 2015-16).
Obviously, the Fever are in a very different era now as they are led by the 22-year-old superstar guard Clark. But White, who was on staff for Indiana’s only WNBA championship to date in 2012, may be the right person for the job. In addition to making a coaching splash, the Fever could also add a top WNBA free agent this offseason.
