Professional sports can be a cruel industry, and the truth of the matter is Jabari Parker may stand to make a lot more money as a result of Joel Embiid’s injury. Embiid underwent surgery over the weekend after fracturing a bone in his foot. Prior to the injury, many believed he would be the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. Now, that honor is more likely to go to Parker.
Whatever the case, at least the two are remaining friends. On Sunday, Parker visited Embiid in the hospital and brought him Gatorade and Oreos.
“Had to check up on my boy @joelembiid and give him his meds,” the former Duke star wrote on Instagram. “He’s in very good spirits. s/o to @arsnyder1 for taking the photo. #GodspeedJOJO.”
Embiid’s foot injury is the same one that essentially ended the careers of Yao Ming and Bill Walton, so hopefully he has more luck recovering than they did.
Side note: The vanilla Oreos? Not sure how I feel about those…
