Julius Randle has struggled for much of the season for the New York Knicks, and that has led to trade rumors popping up. Those rumors didn’t seem to sit well with Randle when he was asked about them Friday.

A recent report indicated that one NBA team came away with the perception that Randle could be available for a trade at the right price. That rumor was put directly to Randle on Friday by Marc Berman of the New York Post, and he did not seem interested in dealing with it. Randle repeatedly asked who had reported the rumor, and made a sarcastic remark towards Berman when the reporter did not initially respond.

Randle ultimately dismissed the rumors as “gossip” and indicated he had not spoken to management about the situation.

“I just trust them. I think they do a great job,” Randle said. “That’s part of the reason we talked in the summer when I signed my extension.”

Randle signed a four-year, $117 million contract with the Knicks last August, and it does not kick in until next season. That factor, combined with his underwhelming season and some of his conduct, makes any trade unlikely. It may be true that the Knicks are willing to move him for the right price, but that price may simply be higher than any team would be willing to pay.
