The Houston Rockets shell-shocked the San Antonio Spurs on Monday with a lopsided win at AT&T Center to kick off their Round 2 series, and they may have benefited from some diehard locals making the trek into enemy territory.
According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, Rockets owner Leslie Alexander paid for buses and tickets for 150 Houston fans to attend Game 1 in San Antonio, including famed Rockets fanatics, the Red Rowdies.
One reason Rockets fans seem so loud (other than the score): Leslie Alexander paid for buses and tickets for 150, including Red Rowdies.

The operation was a success, as the Rockets completely took the air out of the Spurs crowd en route to a 126-99 blowout victory. Alexander, who has owned the team since 1993, recently further endeared himself to the Houston fanbase with this passionate display in their first-round series against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Perhaps by the time the postseason is complete, the city will be goading Alexander on for a mayoral run.
