Luke Walton rips Bucks staffer for role during scrum

Luke Walton

The Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks got into an on-court scuffle Friday night, and Lakers coach Luke Walton was not happy with the conduct of a Milwaukee staffer.

The third quarter scrum started after a hard foul by Milwaukee’s Malcolm Brogdon on Los Angeles’s Nick Young. Young shoved Brogdon before Greg Monroe and Brandon Ingram both stuck their noses in, which led to both teams coming together on the floor.

During the fracas, a Milwaukee Bucks employee became involved and shoved Ingram — at least according to Walton.

“And then watching the tape, one of their employees is on the floor, and he grabs Brandon by the jersey and shoves him — not holding him back, shoves him — and that doesn’t get addressed either?” Walton said, via Baxter Holmes and Jovan Buha of ESPN. “If there’s nothing wrong with that, then I have no problem finding some people to hire on our staff.

“The next time we get in a skirmish, I’ll keep all my players back because the fact that they don’t get in trouble for that, the refs don’t say anything about that, and he puts his hands on one of our players? He works for them. He can touch their players all he wants.”

There’s been a lot of frustration for the Lakers this season, and they were formally eliminated from playoff contention Friday night. Some of that frustration boiled over in this incident.
