Rajon Rondo eyeing GM or coaching job after playing career
Now that he is on the back nine of his NBA career, Rajon Rondo is already thinking about what move might be next for him.
Addressing reporters Thursday, the Los Angeles Lakers guard, who remains out with a hand injury, was asked if he had thought about coaching upon the end of his playing days. Rondo replied that being a coach, a general manager, or a president were all of interest to him, per Lakers reporter Mike Trudell.
Rondo was asked if he thought about coaching after he’s done with his playing career: “I have an interest in being a GM … President … maybe coach.”

The soon-to-be 33-year-old Rondo seems like a natural fit for a future coaching position as one of the most vocal, pure floor generals in the league today. There are also a number of former players who have gone on to become NBA executives — Magic Johnson and Jerry West to name a few from the older guard as well as Sean Marks and Elton Brand from the newer guard.
We have already seen in recent months how well served Rondo might be in such a position of leadership, so it seems like a safe bet that he will remain around the NBA in some prominent capacity upon his retirement as a player.
