Ray Allen reportedly wants to play another season with LeBron James

Ray Allen dunk

There was speculation that Ray Allen would retire after the NBA season, but it looks like the 38-year-old has interest in playing another year.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reports that Allen and LeBron James vacationed together last week after losing in the NBA Finals. The two supposedly have grown close during their two seasons together on the Miami Heat, and Allen has a desire to come back and play with LeBron once again.

James told the Heat he will decline his option for next season and become an unrestricted free agent. Allen will also be an unrestricted free agent.

Unlike other players who are no longer useful as they near 40, Allen is still a productive player.

Allen has averaged around 26 minutes per game each of his two seasons with the Heat. He averaged 9.6 points per game last season while shooting 44.2 percent from the field. He also played in all 20 of the Heat’s postseason games.

Maybe the monster dunk he threw down in the Finals convinced him he still had a lot of life left.
