The San Antonio Spurs got a sky-high approval rating for their court and crowd color scheme to open this year’s playoffs.
The Spurs went all-in on their iconic “Fiesta” design for Game 1 against the Portland Trail Blazers at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. Different sections of the crowd were separated by shirts in the Fiesta colors of turquoise, pink, or orange.

You gotta appreciate the effort the Spurs made in getting the three colors of their classic logo in different sections for their playoff game shirt giveaway.pic.twitter.com/z4sYdSfXZO

The scene looked even better once the game tipped off. There was no killjoy in sight who felt too cool to wear the shirts as the action kicked off on the Fiesta court.

Several fans couldn’t help but react to the eye-catching court and crowd colors for Spurs-Blazers Game 1. The overwhelming consensus was that San Antonio hit nothing but net on their creative risk for the team’s series opener.

The Spurs’ Fiesta colors originated in 1989 as a tribute to the Fiesta San Antonio festival that takes place every April. The colors were removed from the team’s official designs in the early 2000s and were brought back only recently as part of the City Edition uniforms created by Nike — the same jerseys the Spurs were rocking during Sunday’s Game 1.
The Spurs had long relied on silver and black as the team’s only colors. But it’s clear that Spurs supporters and fans at large appreciate the Fiesta vibes now and then.
