Video: Charles Barkley took funny shot at Shaq over his rap career

Charles Barkley dissing Shaq

Count Charles Barkley among those who do not care for the album “Shaq Fu: The Return.”

TNT’s “NBA Tip-Off” show aired live from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio on Thursday. This year’s NBA All-Star Weekend festivities will be held in Cleveland later this week.

During one segment, the crew reacted to a new exhibit at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame that explores the intersection between music and basketball. Rapper LL Cool J was a part of it, as the exhibit had on display the car featured on the cover of his 1987 album “Bigger and Deffer.”

After Shaquille O’Neal started talking about what he had learned from LL Cool J, Barkley hilariously responded, “You talking to LL Cool J. He taught you something, but he didn’t taught you how to rap.”

When co-host Kenny Smith then suggested that O’Neal himself should be featured in the exhibit as well, Barkley came in with some more heat.

“He released his first album over 25 years ago, he’s not getting in here,” joked Barkley.

O’Neal has actually released a total of four rap albums over the years. His debut album “Shaq Diesel,” which came out in 1993, was his most successful, even going platinum.

But the NBA community does not really show O’Neal too much love for his hip-hop career, and that was certainly true of Barkley on Thursday as well.
