High rollers passing up free tickets to Mayweather-Berto fight
When was the last time there was less interest and less buzz surrounding a Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight?
Mayweather is set to fight Andre Berto on Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas with a chance to improve his flawless record to 49-0 in what his camp insists will be his last ever fight. Though Mayweather is considered the greatest pound-for-pound fighter in the sport and has a chance to tie Rocky Marciano’s mark, the interest in this fight is practically non-existent.
Fans are not booking trips to Las Vegas; hotel prices have not increased the way they typically do for Floyd; tickets are still available; and to punctuate the point, high rollers reportedly are even passing up FREE tickets to the fight.
Mayweather-Berto is such a dud at the box office that there are a lot of high rollers passing up free tickets to the fight

Mayweather has always believed that he could face any opponent and still sell tickets and generate pay-per-view buys. That has been a big part of his business model and why many believe he does not always take the greatest challenge when it comes to picking his opponents. His six-fight guaranteed contract with CBS/Showtime allowed him this luxury, but now the strategy appears to finally be haunting him. Meanwhile, Amir Khan is sitting there telling you “told ya so.”
