Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a college football video game junkie

If Dale Earnhardt Jr. ever gets tired of working as a NASCAR broadcaster, the two-time Daytona 500 winner could probably convince a network to hire him as a college football analyst. No, we are not joking.

Earnhardt loves college football. That does not make him unique, of course, as college football is one of the most popular sports in America. But if you listen to Earnhardt talk about his obsession with EA Sports’ “College Football 25” video game, you will understand why he is a bit different.

During a recent appearance on the “Bussin’ with the Boys” podcast, Earnhardt proudly spoke about the video game dynasty he has built with UNC Charlotte’s football program. The 50-year-old said he built the Forty Niners from a 1-star program and “recruited them up to a 4.5-star.” Earnhardt then went on a Cinderella run and beat his buddy, who had a Michigan dynasty.

As for how he accomplished the feat, Earnhardt said he “recruited and worked hard.” He then showed off the iPad he uses when playing the game, which includes a color-coded depth chart and playbook..

“I will then rank them in their ability to gain yards. Then I will customize my playbook. It’s fun,” Earnhardt said.

Just listen to this guy:

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is an absolute PSYCHOPATH w/ CFB 25 and I respect him so much for it

We can confidently say that there are few people who are more passionate about fictional college football than Dale Jr.

EA Sports is giving college football players a big raise for the latest installment of its video game series. If those players are lucky, they may even wind up getting a chance to play for Earnhardt’s UNC Charlotte Forty Niners.
