One of the best head coaching jobs on the college baseball market appears to be getting filled.
D1Baseball’s Kendall Rogers reported on Sunday night that Indiana Hoosiers head coach Chris Lemonis will be the next head coach at Mississippi State.
BREAKING: I’m hearing from sources that @IndianaBase head coach Chris Lemonis will be the next head coach at @HailStateBB, and that top #HailState assistant Jake Gautreau will stay on staff. If that doesn’t change, I really like that duo.

The announcement comes a day after Mississippi State’s season came to an end.
Pitching coach Gary Henderson had been operating as the Bulldogs’ interim head coach and helped them reach the College World Series. Under Henderson, the team reached the semifinals before losing twice to Oregon State and getting eliminated.
Previous Bulldogs head coach Andy Cannizaro resigned in February after the team began 0-3. He was in his second season as the program’s head coach.
Lemonis just completed his fourth season at Indiana following a successful eight-season stint as an assistant at Louisville. He went 141-91-2 as IU’s head coach.
