College basketball player gets hit with memes for his wild protective mask
Halloween may be over, but one college basketball player in still very much in the spirit.
A Holy Cross player went viral during Friday’s nationally-televised game against Sacred Heart for his absolutely deranged protective mask. He was wearing a thick gray-colored mask that covered darn near his entire face (except for his eyes).
Check out what he looked like while shooting free throws in the second half.

The image quickly went viral, and many users on X reacted with a torrent of funny memes. Some compared him to Hannibal Lecter while others made jokes about Bane and other fictional villains.

The player in question was Crusaders senior forward Caleb Kenney. The mask apparently worked like a charm for him as he finished with 16 points on 7/8 shooting as Holy Cross beat Sacred Heart 82-75.
Holy Cross, a D1 school that competes in the Patriot League, has not been relevant in awhile with just one NCAA Tournament appearance in the last 17 years. But Kenney did his best to put them on the map this week by wearing the most bizarre protective mask on this side of the NFL’s David Njoku.
