Dave Pasch shares the heartbreaking T-shirt he planned to wear with Bill Walton
ESPN announcer Dave Pasch on Tuesday shared a photo of the T-shirt he had planned to wear to his last broadcast with the late Bill Walton.
In recent years, Pasch had become a symbol of Walton’s recent post-basketball career. Pasch served as the play-by-play announcer and Walton the color commentator for Pac-12 basketball games they would call on ESPN. Pasch would play the straight man always trying to reel in Walton, who constantly went off the rails and waxed poetically about multiple subjects, which usually had nothing to do with basketball.
The Pac-12 has fallen apart with 10 member schools leaving for new conferences this fall. That brings us to the great shirt Pasch said he was planning to wear on their final broadcast, which never happened.
The shirt had an image of Walton eating a cupcake on the front, and the words “I survived 12 years with Bill Walton & all I got was this shirt” on the back.
Last one. Made this shirt to wear on our final broadcast, which sadly never happened. pic.twitter.com/nQAWZsmUSN

That shirt would have been so perfect to wear. Unfortunately, Pasch never got to wear it, which is heartbreaking.
Pasch also delivered a touching tribute to Walton on a call in to ESPN. Walton died on Monday at the age of 71 after a battle with prostate cancer.
