Kevin Stallings seeking full buyout, disputes firing

Kevin Stallings is playing hardball with Pitt.
Stallings’ attorneys issued a statement on Friday in which they explicitly stated that they will be seeking the full amount of the coach’s $9.4 million buyout. In the statement, the attorneys also disputed the idea that their client could be fired with cause.
Kevin Stallings’ attorney just issued a statement. Pretty much says what I wrote this morning — Stallings’ camp disagrees that he should be fired with cause and they want their full buyout. pic.twitter.com/AcgGe5FSIj

Pitt parted ways with Stallings after he led the Panthers to an 8-24 record, including an 0-18 record in conference play. The Panthers were heavily mocked for their lowly play, which included utter embarrassment against Virginia. But poor results absent a violation of the terms of his contract probably would prevent Pitt from being able to wiggle out of paying him his buyout.
