Arkansas gets crushed on Twitter after disastrous half against Western Kentucky
It’s always something of a crisis when an SEC team loses at home to a lesser program, but that does not adequately describe what happened to the Arkansas Razorbacks in the first half of Saturday’s game.
Arkansas found itself trailing 35-7 to Western Kentucky at halftime of a home game Saturday. The Hilltoppers had 16 first downs to Arkansas’ three, and outgained the Razorbacks 317-119. This is a Western Kentucky team that came in with a modest 5-4 record, and had lost its season opener at home to an FCS team, Central Arkansas. Just to rub things in further, Western Kentucky quarterback Tyler Storey is a former Arkansas player.
Twitter did not go easy on the hapless Razorbacks.
Arkansas is losing 35-7 to a team that:
-lost to an FCS team from Arkansas' own state
-is quarterbacked by an Arkansas transfer
-is 5-for-5 on fourth down
-has a TD of exactly 69 yards today
but how is YOUR Saturday going

This is the kind of day Arkansas is having. Western Kentucky's kicker did this! pic.twitter.com/x1IR60Up5h

Arkansas 2019 is an absolute disaster. Worst SEC team I’ve seen in my lifetime.

Then there was the second genre of tweet, suggesting Arkansas coach Chad Morris was probably coaching his last game at the school.
Let’s check in on Chad Morris’ seat… pic.twitter.com/Bo1odV2dEt

I have never seen it but I strongly believe that one day an embattled coach will be led from the field by security after his team gives up a game-clinching pick-six in the 3rd quarter. Today could be that day.

The Razorbacks are on their way to a 2-8 record, and this is far from their first embarrassment of the season. Morris is almost certainly losing his job at the end of the season, if not sooner, especially with the team playing the way it is.
