The 21-year-old QB did not sign with an agent upon initially declaring for the NFL Draft weeks ago. The move preserved the option for Ward to stay in college. Ward reportedly received several seven-figure NIL offers from various schools before flirting with going pro.
Ward was heavily linked to a powerhouse Big Ten squad and several other top programs before deciding to commit to Miami.
Washington State finished with a 5-7 record last season. But despite the middling record, Ward had a stellar 2023 campaign as a passer with 3,732 yards for 25 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. He also rushed for 8 touchdowns.
Ward is slated to replace Miami’s 2023 starter Tyler Van Dyke, who transferred to a Big Ten school in December.
