Deion Sanders blasts media in viral rant

Deion Sanders has found a new reason to lash out on the media.

Sanders has seemingly become more and more irritated with the media over the past year. The Colorado coach has criticized reporters on multiple occasions this season for their supposed “personal” attacks on him and his team. Sanders had another viral rant on Tuesday in which he accused the media of being “envious and jealous” of players in the NIL era.

“The landscape has changed in college football. Once upon a time you guys never attacked college players. Now, they’re making more money than y’all and some of y’all are envious and jealous about that, so you’re on the attack,” Sanders said. “It (used to be) hands off a college player because he’s an amateur. Remember that, guys? Now it’s hands on, go at them any way you want. ‘They’re making more money than me and I’m mad about it.’

“When you attack them, attack them, attack them, these guys are sensitive. They’ve never been attacked. They haven’t gone through what a grown man, what I’ve been going through with y’all for years. They haven’t done that.”

For starters, the media has always criticized players — even at the collegiate level. If it seems like it happens more now, that is probably just because of the way social media dominates the world. College athletes also deliberately make themselves more visible with things like podcasts, such as the “2Legendary” podcast that Deion’s son Shedeur launched this year.

Deion might also be meshing ruthless memes and media criticism together.

Whatever the case, Coach Prime seems to spend an awful lot of time blasting the media these days. He just has to balance that with preparing for Saturday’s game against Baylor.
