Greg Schiano now favored to coach Ohio State opener
Whether Urban Meyer retains his position as head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes remains to be seen, but as of now, the odds are not in his favor.
Earlier on Wednesday, BetDSI sportsbook still had Meyer favored to be the team’s head coach for their season opener on Sept. 1 against Oregon State. He was a -300 favorite at the time. But after news came out that Meyer had been placed on administrative leave by Ohio State, the odds shifted towards another man coaching the team.
Somewhat unbelievably, Buckeyes defensive coordinator Greg Schiano is now favored to be the program’s head coach on Sept. 1. Meyer is listed as the next most likely to have the position.
Here are the full odds:
Greg Schiano -150
Urban Meyer +180
Kevin Wilson +220
Ryan Day +500
Alex Grinch +1500
Les Miles +5000
Jim Grobe +10000
Rich Rodriguez +10000
Meyer is now an underdog to be the team’s head coach on Sept. 1. What’s incredibly ironic about this situation is that an alleged failure to report/look the other way type of situation could be taking down Meyer at Ohio State. The same charge is what led Tennessee fans to turn on a potential Schiano hire.
