Report: USC-Alabama football game in September will not happen
There is uncertainty surrounding the upcoming college football season, and there is some belief that schools could end up playing conference-only games to limit travel and exposure. The result is that some of the big non-conference games many were looking forward to are unlikely to happen.
Colin Cowherd, who often has scoops about USC, said on Tuesday that the Alabama-USC football game scheduled for Sept. 5 in Arlington, Texas is not happening.
Told by two people I trust — USC v Alabama isn’t happening. Trojans can’t even practice in LA potentially for several months. This is why Bama already talking to other possible opponents. Not official but understood. Feeling now that Pac 12 football in spring — much more likely.

Cowherd adds that the Pac-12 playing in the spring is more likely, but we cannot endorse that aspect of his tweet yet. The part about USC vs. Alabama not happening makes sense considering Los Angeles is reopening very slowly.
Despite the uncertainty, Arizona is opening the way for pro sports to soon return to the state, while Texas coach Tom Herman says he believes a college football season will take place.
For now, Alabama’s athletic director says he is planning for a game against USC.
Received a text from Alabama AD @Greg_Byrne a few minutes ago in response to asking about possibility of an Alabama-TCU opener.
His response: “Our plan is to play USC.”
